Before installing this modification around a year ago... my fly line at times would catch around the foot braces, sandal straps, and other items that my be lying on the floor of the kayak. Since installing this simple stripping basket all said issues have vanished! It's easy to add or remove as needed... and costs very little in supplies.
Check it out!
The material is rubber coated drawer liner custom cut to fit. It is held in place with some adhesive electrical wire loops / clips, and hung with four zip-ties made into loops as well.
When the basket is not needed I simply remove from kayak or when I'm on the water I roll it up and tuck behind the the foot braces during paddling or non-fishing moments. Although, even with the basket rolled out I can still go from a standing position to a sitting / paddling position or vice-versa without rolling up the basket. I am able to slide my feet and legs under the basket without removing or rolling up.
In search of the infamous Turfus bassimus, Grass Bass.
With this addition I no longer am concerned about were the fly line is landing... which means greater fishing efficiency.
