The Complete Angler
The Osprey (Fishhawk) nature's complete angler.
The following are a few thoughts and ideas that have helped me on my continuous journey to evolve into a better angler... a "Complete Angler."
* First and most important for me is to "listen to the fish!" Most of the time if you observe and listen to them they will tell you how to make adjustments in order to catch them.
* Trust your instincts. Instincts over intellect. Intellectual plans are good as long as there not in control. Learn to listen to your senses. Trust your gut feelings!
* Touch perfection in what you most love to do. There are no limits. Limits are set by the intellect. Intuition (instincts) have no limits.
* Stay in the flow of the natural world. Become part of your surroundings not separate from them.
* High levels of awareness will keep you in the flow with the natural rhythms of the earth. This will equal a stronger connection to creation.
* Fish the moment!
* Develop your own style of fishing. Your own techniques for catching and locating fish. Trust them and have confidence in them.
* Think for yourself. Avoid dock talk. Do not rely on other anglers. Become a self reliant angler, this will help to make you a complete angler.
* The complete angler uses mind, body, and spirit to achieve peak performance.
* Understand all of natures elements. The wind, the waves, the cold, the heat, etc. these are not your enemies your ignorance of them is. Learn to accept them and use to your advantage to locate fish.
* Be aware of and have respect for all living things. We are all connected. You will be rewarded. "Bad Karma is a bitch."
* Avoid distractions. Stay focused. Block out all negatives. Turn one negative into three positives.
* Attack the water. Stay positive. Fish the moment. Trust your instincts.
* Utilize your fishing strengths. Fish flies, lures, and techniques that fit your style. This will give you confidence. Confidence = Success!
* Keep your fly choices and techniques simple. Focus on a few styles and become a master of them.
* Choose your fishing locations based on potential.
* Remember awareness! Listen to and watch the world around you. There are clues for finding fish everywhere.
* Get in the flow. Adapt to all changing conditions. Become part of the game.
* Be the fly. Focus your thoughts on what it is doing.
* When a fish strikes mentally record all the information. Use this information to produce more strikes and catches. Duplicate that information to catch the next one.
* The most powerful tool to catching fish is your mind. Use it!
* If you want to catch the predator... understand it's prey. Prey is ultimately what controls it.
* Fight the good fight. Catch. Release. Fight again! Practice catch and release.
* Do not leave fish to find fish.
"But... if you really want to learn how to catch bass and become a complete angler! Never mind all the bull$h*t above. Just watch how this guy does it! K...V... D!" nuff said. A Michigan boy that knows how to catch'em. I wonder if Kevin could be as good with a fly rod?
"Ohhhh yeah! and keeping with bass fishing and the outlaw country music theme... here's four of the biggest American Bad-Asses you'll ever find... and Kid Rock is not one of them."
