Girls can fish too! Tenkara proves it. The simplicity of Tenkara has really helped to introduce the girls to fly fishing. I believe they really enjoy it because... Tenkara is so simple! So simple that it is damn near stupid. It's exciting too. Fishing with only 16' of line out in front of them allows the kids to see the strike and witness the whole thing! Not to mention the sensitivity of the rod... they get to feel every thrust and wiggle of the fish once on the line. This close quarters style of fishing combat forces them to become real stealthy and quiet. I tell them... "Tenkara is fun ladies... Just pretend your a Heron, move slow, soft, and pick your spots." They like it... and it works. See...

Jeff The Tenkara is like fishing with a Ultra Light Crappie pole. Why do I say this because I am using a 11 ft. Mighty lite at this time for crappie and anything else that will jump on the jig set-up. I just may have to try one of these rods, I have read some great reviews about them.

Awesome pics. That's what I'm talkin' bout. Glad they gals had some success...looks like we can add a few more fishing Ninjas to the clan.
My kids love fishing the tenkara setup for sunfish down here in the south. Easy to use and consistently fun.
