"The Dock"

Cemetery Lake / Middle Lake, Clarkston, MI

I think all fishermen have that one sacred place.  A place that inspired them to touch a fish.  A place that gave them the never ending curiosity to explore all things in and around the water.  For me this place was a simple old wooden dock.  It deserved a much more powerful name then what some nine year old, red headed skinny kid gave it.  But, every time I went to this magical place that one summer, I would simply tell my mother,  "I'm going to the dock!"  A dock that thirty years ago ignited a passion in me that burns more now than ever!   It was where I held my first spinning rod and my first fly rod.  It was where I touched the first love of my life... a little green fish with a black stripe.

Nice post Jeff! I also have a similar looking dock in my sordid past.

Dock fishing can be some of the best fishing out there, especially for crappie in the early spring.
